FAQ

Q.     Can I "deliver" my registration and deposit?

A.      No, we accept registrations through the mail or online only.  The postmark or electronic date stamp confirms the appropriate tuition rate (pre-season or seasonal).

Q.     If I have one registration form but more than one child to register, is a photocopy of the form acceptable?

A.      Yes, it is fine to use a photocopy of the registration form.

Q.     Are there tuition discounts if I am sending more than one child?

A.      Yes, there is a 10% discount on tuition fees for every child after the first child.  Registration fees are not discounted, nor are fees for extended day.)

Q.     What advantage is there to enrolling early?

A.     In addition to the lower tuition rate, early registration increases your chance that there will be room for your child in camp and that we can honor your grouping requests.

Q.    Will you group my child with his/her friends?

A.     Absolutely.  We provide space on the registration forms for you to provide several grouping requests.  We try to meet all grouping requests, but this is not always possible.  You should list grouping requests in order of “importance,” as we attempt grouping in the order you provide.

Q.     What if our summer schedule doesn’t match up with your session dates?

A.      We’ll work with you.  We understand that our campers may have pre-scheduled family vacations or may be attending more than one camp in a summer.  We want to be as flexible as possible.  If a camper can attend at least two consecutive weeks, we will make every effort to work with your schedules, even if they don’t fit neatly into our “session” dates.   Simply indicate when registering which weeks you would like your camper to attend.  We will confirm that registration by mail or email, or call you if there is a problem.

Q.     Do all campers get swim instruction?

A.      Yes.  Even our 4-year-olds have instructional swimming.  Each camper starts instruction at an appropriate level, regardless of age.  That may be simply putting a face in the water or can be actual stroke improvement.  (See Swimming under “DDC’s Program” on the website.)

Q.     Is there a pool on campus?

A.      No – we all swim at the Rockville Swim Center, a premier indoor facility just off Avery Road.  (See Swimming under “DDC’s Program” on the website.)

Q.     How do the kids get to Rockville Swim Center and back?

A.      We go by school bus.  The Coughlan Transportation Company takes us to and from the pool.  That means we are on well-maintained buses driven by professional bus drivers.  The kids really enjoy the bus ride – chatting with friends, singing camp songs, or just resting in the middle of their active camp day.

Q.     What if our plans change after we have registered, and my child can’t attend?

A.      All payments except the registration fee are refundable through March 15.  After March 15, we will offer “comp weeks” for the following season.

Q.     What if my child “doesn’t like” camp?

A.      We’ll work with him/her!  We know we provide a great camp program.  While we can't guarantee every child’s reaction to camp, we have a patient and experienced staff to help your child adjust and enjoy the program.

Q.     If we sign up for just one session, will we be able to extend into additional weeks once camp starts?

A.      Absolutely – as long as there is room in the group.  Extensions can be requested on a week to week basis.  The seasonal tuition rate will apply.

Q.     Can I speak with someone by telephone before camp starts?

A.      You bet – just  call our administrative line – (301) 949-4642.  Leave a brief message and your evening phone number.  A member of our staff will give you a call.
